File sharing is allowing an individual to share files that vary from music, pictures to downloaded documents to known or unknown members of the internet. P2P file sharing, however, allows multiple computers that are connected through the internet and a P2P program to share files. In The BitTorrent Effect by Clive Thompson, it is stated that BitTorrent is a P2P file sharing program that allows for excessive amounts of downloads and uploads to occur at once. Other P2P programs include Kazaa and Tunngle.
